I’m 13 and I’ve stayed in ten houses, six or seven B&Bs, about five temporary houses. That’s 21 times altogether that I’ve moved.
Homeless child, Glasgow
A lasting legacy
Our programme of national action will coordinate with the solutions being pioneered by our projects on the ground to create lasting change for homeless children:
- our legal team will represent homeless children, young people and families and fight for a fairer legal framework
- our national advice service will work with Children’s Centre professionals to provide them with the skills and knowledge to deliver expert housing advice to families with children under the age of 5.
- our team of policy coordinators will campaign for everyone who can influence children’s welfare – from the Government to judges and housing officers – to take decisions that protect children from homelessness and its damaging effects.
In this way, Keys to the Future will leave lasting improvements to the lives of homeless children, fixed in policy, in law and in practice.
- Keys to the Future is a Shelter project. Visit the Shelter website.
