Child support project, Knowsley

Keys to the Future will improve the well-being of excluded children.

There are hundreds of children in the deprived borough of Knowsley whose needs are going unnoticed because their families are excluded from social housing. We will directly support these children whose families are classed as ‘intentionally homeless’ or face eviction due to either real or perceived anti-social behaviour problems within the family.

The project is planned to start later this year, subject to funding, and will work closely with the families of 600 children. These children may not be involved in the anti-social behaviour issues but are thrust from their homes as a result, becoming deeply unsettled and lacking confidence and social skills. We will ensure the children have access to one-to-one support as well as fun educational after-school activities.

To give the project a grass-roots presence and for ease of access to families and referring agencies, a shop-front will be rented in Knowsley.
