Mido and Ali’s story

Mido, 10, and Ali, 6, became homeless when their parents separated. They were placed with their father in temporary accommodation, but the boys had to spend up to two hours getting to school. Mido and Ali’s father was concerned that he was not able to help them with their homework, and as their lifestyle became increasingly unstable, the relationship between Mido and his father deteriorated.

Our education worker suggested running a family group each week in the library to improve their father’s involvement in their education development, and to deal with behaviour and emotions among the family members.

We also successfully supported the family with their application for permanent housing and with the boys’ admission to a school in the same area. Both children are now studying in a new school, only five minutes from their new house.
